Ways To Protect Yourself This Cold & Flu Season

While the pandemic seems to be less of a worry for many, COVID-19 is still prevalent and as we approach Cold & Flu season, it is important that we protect ourselves from the many illnesses that are widespread during this time of year. We can do this by ensuring our immune system is in great shape and by caring for ourselves inside and out. If you are here, you are probably interested in more natural or holistic ways to boost your immune health. I would like to introduce you to 4 great ways to boost your immune health this fall and winter so that you can have a productive and healthy end to 2022.

Gut Health:

If you want to boost your immunity, you can not go wrong starting with the gut. Our immune cells in the gut interact with our microbiome which are affected by the foods we eat, so in turn our immune cells are affected. Foods that are plant based or high in fiber help maintain the good bacteria flora in our gut and build a stronger immune system. To prevent an overgrowth of bacteria in the gut, make sure you are taking a daily probiotic. You can shop our dispensary and grab your Floramend Prime Probiotics or Bacillus Coagulans probiotic supplements.

Hydrate:

Drinking water is by far the best way to maintain hydration, after all our bodies are made up of about 60% of water. It is so important that we nourish our body with water so that our major organs can function properly and flush any toxins that may cause our kidneys and other major organs any harm. When we are dehydrated, it is difficult for our body to eliminate waste, which may lead to decreased energy levels and a weakened immune system making you more susceptible to infection. So simply put, DRINK YOUR WATER!!

IV Vitamin Infusions

We just discussed hydration, so it is only right to follow up with the second-best way to hydrate your cells and replenish your body of fluids. Let’s note that the recommendation is to consume 0.5-1oz of water for every pound you weigh. For example, if you are 150lb, you should consume 75oz-150oz of water a day depending on your activity level. That is 2218.01 milliliters of fluid. Of course, many people do not like water or do not consume adequate amounts during the day. IV Vitamin infusions consist of administering fluids, usually 500ml-1000ml directly to your bloodstream. Select vitamins that aid in immunity boost can also be added to these infusions including vitamin c, zinc, b vitamins, and glutathione to name a few. These vitamins are sure to be absorbed as opposed to oral vitamins that must be digested through the GI tract. Investing in monthly Vitamin infusion therapy is sure to give you the hydration, energy, and immune-boosting vitamins you need to maintain a healthy immune system. IV vitamin therapy is not for everyone but is safe for most. Book your FREE 15-minute consultation to learn more.

Sleep

Sleep, something the majority of us just simply do not get enough of, plays a vital role in the functioning of our immune system. Adults should get at least 7 hours of sleep at night allowing their bodies to properly rest, reset and detoxify. Did you know that when we are sleeping our body releases a protein called cytokines which are needed in increased amounts when we have an infection or inflammation? Well, do not deprive yourself of sleep because in doing so, the number of cytokines released will be decreased therefore making it difficult for your body to fight off an infection. Have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep? Schedule a visit with us here or shop our Rhodiola supplements to aid in sleep.
